October 2026 – Friends of Esthers Newsletter

Out of life

Family Day

For the first time, we organised a family day for our dedicated volunteers so that their children could gain a better understanding of what their parent(s) are committed to. Our aim is to strengthen family ties and support our volunteers. It was a really lovely day!

Bible studies for survivors

The cult deliberately paints a negative picture of God and Jesus. For they know better than anyone that God’s grace and love can help survivors recover in a special way. As has often been said: Light can dispel darkness, but darkness cannot dispel light.

If a survivor, with God’s help, wishes to take courageous steps towards freedom, we also want to help him or her develop a renewed understanding of who God is. That is why we have started writing Bible studies that a survivor can work through together with a friend from the support network. The first three are ready to be tested in practice. We hope that they will bring insight and joy, and that they may support the healing process.

Advisory Board

We believe it is important and valuable to establish an Advisory Board that is willing to offer its input, both when asked and on its own initiative, on key aspects of our work. We have found the first two members, and we find their contributions to be engaged and helpful. We intend to introduce them in the next newsletter.

Growing awareness

We regularly find that people in all sorts of parts of the country are already committed to supporting survivors and are then looking for guidance in this area, which is new to them. Our website is already a familiar point of reference for them, and they find an information evening and a mini-course to be helpful. Together, we then explore how we can continue to support them with advice and resources.

Would you like to help raise awareness of this issue in the Netherlands? If so, please request our leaflet by emailing lichtoplevens@proton.me or order the book I am who on our website.

Farm harvest

Our fruit trees have produced a bountiful harvest! This meant we ran out of jars for all our jam, apple sauce, apple pie filling and syrups, so we’ve been enjoying plenty of it ourselves this year!

We hope to be able to sell the pots so that we can carry out some maintenance work on the farm.

Finances

In our previous newsletter, we asked for additional donations. We are very grateful for the donations we have received! We haven’t yet raised the full amount needed for the CCTV system, but we have received part of it. We are very grateful for this!

Cult continues to cause trouble, and now that we’re hosting clients at our farm more often, this has unfortunately become more of a problem rather than less. CCTV is therefore essential!

The roof has now been serviced and the lightning conductor is due to be fitted shortly. Donations towards treatment costs have also increased slightly, for which we are very grateful! These donations are still desperately needed!

You can also help by distributing the leaflet ‘Help a survivor take the next step’, for example within your prayer group or circle. That is a huge source of encouragement for us!

Update – news in brief

The supervision group for those who work with survivors who are not receiving care from Friends of Esthers has grown once again!

We’re running more and more mini-courses to help people understand what it means to spend time with a survivor and to be able to support them as a friend within their support network. Check our website for the dates!

Information Evening
We’ve noticed that people often know something about SRM, but not enough to consider doing something to support survivors – whether through prayer or other means – whilst for survivors, having their traumatic situation recognised means so much. Please let people know about an information evening where they can listen and ask questions; or bring people along with you.

You can sign up for these evenings via lichtoplevens.nl on the contact page, via ‘register for the event’. Once you have registered, you will also receive the exact venue for the event.

Thank you for your attention and commitment!

The world of survivors was totally unknown to me. I have great respect for their courage and perseverance when I hear about their bizarre experiences. How vulnerable and special that they want to share this with me personally! I really appreciate that we can open our home for encounters.

Being there unconditionally is the key

I have been touched in my heart by the injustice done to so many; I want to stand for the truth and for God's justice to prevail.

Survivors of SRM need what every human being needs: sincere love, a heart that listens without judgement and lasting connection. Even the deepest parts, those who had to murder and rape, then dare to speak. How many victims will break free from their lifelong slavery if they receive 10 such friends?

It is a privilege to pray for survivors, regularly and at key moments. And also for their families, if they are still in the cult. That is my contribution to their liberation and I experience that in this way I can help God's light to shine on their lives. As a Christian, I thus take my place in God's Kingdom and in the heavenly realms.

What a new, dark world opened up for me in 2020. Too bizarre to be true, until I started to listen and read critically and openly. I now find it a privilege to support therapists and survivors, so that the Light of Jesus overcomes the deep darkness.

I give my hands to help and my heart to love.

It is a privilege to experience a survivor. But it is an even greater privilege to be able to do your modest part to support the survivor to really live.

No one can do it all alone.... That is why I want to mean something for others. My name Tikva means HOPE ... and there is hope for everyone!
