Update Farmstead "The Inner Garden"
Everything is now big steps forward. Three families have moved into the Hoeve and the first client appointments have already taken place. The residents are still in major renovations in the coming period to make the homes completely ready for use. For instance, one family does not yet have a kitchen and a roof needs to be replaced. But enjoying the location and using this God-appointed place is a daily fact. For example, we have already been able to pick some apples from the fruit trees and the first pots of applesauce have been canned.
Meanwhile, we have started working with volunteers to also properly maintain the venue (besides the daily maintenance we do ourselves) and have already held our first substantive assistance meeting.
That the financing of the Hoeve 'came around' was an amazing step in which we experienced God's faithfulness and saw beautiful, warm commitment from people. There have also been donors who have contributed extra to make the necessary initial renovations possible. For this we are immensely grateful! To fully complete all the planned, initial work, we do need additional finances at this time. Next year, we plan to convert the barn into an office and guest room. If you readers would like to contribute to this, that would be great!
The next two months will be marked by renovations and building treatments at this new location. This will mainly focus on what our beneficiaries need and what helps them. This requires a lot of consultation, special choices and time, but special to be able to do for these precious people. We will keep you updated on progress in our newsletters
Update work Friends of Esthers
With the new location, we have gained more space and time for our work when it comes to location and practical place where we can meet. A place where we hope to accommodate survivors for short and longer periods of time to give them time to work through trauma in relative peace. In the first period, we will still be busy with renovations and further strengthening our base as a team.
Our help to survivors has been and continues to evolve and gradually our expertise is growing. How immense is the struggle to get out of the cult, but how wonderful it is to see our aid recipients make steps that set them more and more free. We see each person seeking help making choices that sometimes have major consequences for their own safety or even for their lives, but which still help them go on the right path, the path of freedom and of Yeshua.
Help us be able to do our work by telling people that srm exists, by giving us financial support and by joining help as a volunteer!
New blogs & articles
On the website Lichtoplevens.co.uk a number of new publications have appeared. This blog tells of the difficult relationship between survivors with cult experience on the one hand and people with their habits, beliefs and thinking from the 'ordinary world' on the other ('clashing worlds').
In this personal blog Richard tells what happened to him at a Friends of Esthers information evening. Pretty shocking... or maybe you'll find it relatable?
There will also be a quarterly prayer letter out in which we share knowledge about srm and spiritual struggles and experiences, as well as share specific prayer points.
Information & networking evenings
A number of introductory and information evenings are also planned in the coming period. For various reasons, we are looking for new people to join our network. Very specifically, this concerns, for instance, the personal network around survivors, who need a whole new family consisting of healthy, trustworthy relationships. In addition, we are always looking for new 'Friends of Esthers' who are willing to roll up their sleeves (e.g. by practically helping with chores at the Hoeve).
On an evening like this, two Friends of Esthers staff members will talk more about srm, our work and how you can help srm survivors get out of the cult.
These evenings are scheduled for the coming period:
- Tuesday 10 September 19:30 in Amsterdam
- Monday 7 October 19:30 in Utrecht
- Tuesday 5 November 19:30 in Amsterdam
- Tuesday 3 December 19:30h (location to follow)
You can apply va the contact form, which here is to be found. Please provide the names of those coming and the date you want to participate and we will send you the time and address a week before the evening. Very welcome!
Finance update
What a special moment it was when the transfer of the Hoeve took place at the notary! A great step and answer to prayer to strengthen our work. Thanks to many donations, large and small, the renovation could begin; in its budget there is still a gap of over 15,000 euros because of some setbacks and costs that had not been calculated. If you want/can help, please do!
Meanwhile, outreach to survivors continues apace, including during the move and getting used to the new location. It would be nice if you could continue to support our grassroots work during this period; per month, this amounts to some €7,000 that will benefit the recovery of survivors.
Thank you very much for reading our newsletter and thus your interest in our work.
