June 2026 – Friends of Esthers Newsletter

Out of life

SPECIAL ON FINANCE
Given the urgency of the situation, we would like to use this newsletter to highlight a few financial issues that are hindering our work on behalf of survivors. We have mentioned them before, but this time they really do require our attention. We will also provide a brief update on the work and developments at Friends Of Esthers.

COST ITEMS
Below you will find the biggest current expenditure items for which there are insufficient funds to cover them.

One-off expenses for the farm:

    • CCTV
Despite the fence around the site, we sometimes have unwanted visitors, even at night. For this reason, we urgently need a security system, which, due to the high standards we must set for it, involves significant costs. The estimated cost, based on the quote, is €25,000. We have already received a substantial donation towards this, but we still need €17,500.

    • Roof renovation
The thatched roof is in urgent need of major maintenance. We are extremely grateful that donations have already been received for this, but we still need €5,000 before we can commission the repair work. This includes the installation of a new lightning conductor.

    • Monthly treatment costs for Friends of Esthers
We are seeing a decline in the donations we receive for the core of our work: the counselling sessions with survivors. Yet we would actually like to allocate more treatment hours (see previous newsletter). In addition, an experienced specialist therapist has joined us, which we are very pleased about. If we had more financial resources, we would be keen to deploy this person to support our survivors who are trying to break free from cults.

You can also help us by picking up the leaflet ‘Help a survivor take the next step’ to share within, for example, your prayer group or circle. In this

Here is a brief explanation of what we do and how you can support us financially. Please know that it is a huge encouragement to us if you wish to raise awareness of our organisation’s work and needs in this way.

You should have received the leaflet digitally along with this newsletter, if you received it from us by email.
Would you like to order physical copies to give to others? Please send an email to lichtoplevens@proton.me with your address and the number of leaflets you’d like to receive.

NEWS IN BRIEF

We had an initial meeting with an organisation that provides training for people who want to learn more about pastoral care. The meeting went well and will be followed up. This is particularly because our approach, involving practitioners, prayer partners and friends in our network, was in line with their vision.

The Friends of Esthers Advisory Board is taking shape. The first meeting will take place shortly. We would welcome both solicited and unsolicited advice from them, so that our efforts can best support survivors in their intense recovery process.

The supervision group for people who work with survivors who are not receiving care from Friends of Esther is growing!

DATES FOR INFORMATION EVENINGS AND MINI-COURSES

We’ve noticed that people often know a little about SRM, but not enough to consider doing something to support survivors, whether through prayer or other means. Yet for survivors, simply having their traumatic situation acknowledged means so much. Please let people know about an information evening where we’ll do our best to provide information on the topic of SRM and where they can ask questions. Or bring someone along!

Data

Tuesday 30 June and 14 July 2026: Rijssen mini-course (14 July is the follow-up to Part 1 of the mini-course on 30 June)

Tuesday 7 July: information evening (venue to be confirmed)

Tuesday 29 September: Information evening in Rijssen

Tuesday 10 and 24 November: Mini-course in Rijssen (24 November is the follow-up to Part 1 of the mini-course held on 10 November)

You can sign up for these evenings by clicking on the contact page of lichtoplevens.nl at the contact form that you would like to participate in a meeting. After registering, you will also receive the exact location of the meeting.

Thank you for your attention and commitment!

the merciful,
for to them shall
mercy
be proven.

The world of survivors was totally unknown to me. I have great respect for their courage and perseverance when I hear about their bizarre experiences. How vulnerable and special that they want to share this with me personally! I really appreciate that we can open our home for encounters.

Being there unconditionally is the key

I have been touched in my heart by the injustice done to so many; I want to stand for the truth and for God's justice to prevail.

Survivors of SRM need what every human being needs: sincere love, a heart that listens without judgement and lasting connection. Even the deepest parts, those who had to murder and rape, then dare to speak. How many victims will break free from their lifelong slavery if they receive 10 such friends?

It is a privilege to pray for survivors, regularly and at key moments. And also for their families, if they are still in the cult. That is my contribution to their liberation and I experience that in this way I can help God's light to shine on their lives. As a Christian, I thus take my place in God's Kingdom and in the heavenly realms.

What a new, dark world opened up for me in 2020. Too bizarre to be true, until I started to listen and read critically and openly. I now find it a privilege to support therapists and survivors, so that the Light of Jesus overcomes the deep darkness.

I give my hands to help and my heart to love.

It is a privilege to experience a survivor. But it is an even greater privilege to be able to do your modest part to support the survivor to really live.

No one can do it all alone.... That is why I want to mean something for others. My name Tikva means HOPE ... and there is hope for everyone!
